If your house is facing 342 degrees, your house belongs to a NORTH FACING House.
To refresh your memory, there are 8 directions in the compass. Each direction
is 45 degrees which is subdivided into 3 sections each covering 15 degrees called mountain/sitting.
Below is the breakdown.
North1 = 337.5 - 352.5
North2 = 352.5 - 7.5
North3 = 7.5 - 22.5
NorthEast1 = 22.5-37.5
NorthEast2 = 37.5 - 52.5
NorthEast3 = 52.5 - 67.5
East1 = 67.5 - 82.5
East2 = 82.5 - 97.5
East3 = 97.5 - 112.5
SouthEast1 = 112.5 - 127.5
SouthEast2 = 127.5 - 142.5
SouthEast3 = 142.5 - 157.5
South1 = 157.5 - 172.5
South2 = 172.5 - 187.5
South3 = 187.5 - 202.5
SouthWest1 = 202.5 -217.5
SouthWest2 = 217.5 - 232.5
SouthWest3 = 232.5 - 247.5
West1 = 247.5 - 262.5
West2 = 262.5 - 277.5
West3 = 277.5 - 292.5
NorthWest1 = 292.5 - 307.5
NorthWest2 = 307.5 - 322.5
NorthWest3 = 322.5 - 337.5
In the above sample of 342 degree facing direction, the house falls under
" North1. "
Step 3
Determine the water and mountain stars and the path taken. You notice in
the flying star chart there are 3 numbers in each square. The number in the middle is called the
Time Star; the number on the right hand corner is the water/facing star; the
number on the left hand corner is the mountain/sitting star. The water star
is responsible for wealth while the mountain star is responsible for health.
Let us first determine the mountain/sitting star (the number on the upper left hand corner).
In our sample,
a facing of 342 degrees falls under North1, this would mean that the house SITTING direction would have
to be " South1. " The sitting direction is always OPPOSITE of the facing direction of the house (Ex. An East facing house sits West).
Refer back to the loshu square for period 7 house in step 1 , the number in the south palace is Star # 2. This
number is then placed at the center of the lou shu magic square up on the left hand side corner.
The next thing to do is to determine the path taken whether to fly the stars forward (yang) or backward (yin).

the path taken by the mountain star. This new page will load into a new browser window
which you can close after finding out the path taken by the stars.
We find " South1 " under Period 7 is indicated by a
YIN mountain. Thus, we fly the stars backward (2-1-9-8-7-6-5-4-3). See chart below.
Now, let us determine the water/facing star (the number on the upper right hand corner). The facing
direction of 342 degrees falls under North1.
Referring back to the loshu square for period 7 house in step 1 ,
the number in the North palace is Star # 3. This number is placed at the center of the loshu square up
on the right hand side corner. Next, we determine whether to fly the stars forward or backward.

[Facing/Water Star Path] to find
the path taken by the water star. This new page will load into a new browser window
which you can close after finding out the path taken by the stars.
We find "North1" under Period 7 is YANG mountain.
Thus, we fly the stars forward (3-4-5-6-7-8-9-1-2). See chart below.
Below is the completed flying star chart for period 7 house(built in 1987) facing at 342 degrees (North1):
Step 4
With the completed flying star chart, you can now draw up a floor plan of your house. Divide the floorplan
from the center into 8 wedges and place the stars from the chart in their respective palaces.
Whew ! That was easy, wasn't it? We are now ready to analyze the flying star chart of the house.
